Contributing to our communities

Improving biodiversity by planting trees

As part of BREEAM improvement works at our property in Nove Mesto, Slovakia, Cromwell, our tenants and the community planted trees, bushes and built insect holes and birdhouses. The activity was coordinated with the Kočovce and Beckov communities and included tenants and families from the area. It was coordinated based on an ecological report to help improve biodiversity. Local children and their families created groups with tenants to plant the 50 trees provided and build birdhouses.

Cleaning up the neighbourhood in Italy

Our Italian team contributed to a clean-up of Giardino Marcello Candia, a green space local to Nervesa21, our sustainable office redevelopment, in Milan.

Taking part alongside Plastic Free, Nessi & Majocchi and Elettromeccanica Galli, the Cromwell team spent the morning collecting 150 kg of plastic and litter from the area, improving the space for the community and showcasing our commitment to investing in the local areas where we operate.

We believe that in order to harness diversity, we need inclusion, where all employees are able to be themselves at work, and equity, where everyone is treated fairly.

Diversity, equity and inclusion

Diversity

At Cromwell, we believe that organisational diversity, where the composition of the workforce reflects that of the local population, brings diversity of thought for innovation, effective decision making, great customer service and outstanding performance.

Equity

We are continually reviewing and updating our policies, procedures and systems to make sure they promote a fair and equitable workplace for all, where bias is minimised and everyone has equal opportunity to succeed.

Inclusion

We want all our people, regardless of their personal characteristics or background, to feel welcome at Cromwell. Our culture is one which not only respects each and every individual but rewards them for bringing their whole self to work.

Embedding ESG across our business

Colleagues from all European offices participated in the Climate Fresk workshops, an ESG initiative aimed at increasing climate change awareness across all levels of the business, which provided staff with the knowledge to play an active role in the climate transition. The success of these initial workshops has led to the roll-out of European-wide ESG training programme.

Kildean Business Park I Connecting with the local community

In FY22, Cromwell and construction partner B+K delivered new offices for M&G on behalf of Stirling Development Agency. The building has been designed to meet stringent sustainability objectives, scoring BREEAM Excellence and using a number of zero and low-carbon technologies.

The building was designed to WELL standards, with health and well-being as priorities. The office has secured cycle storage, with showers and dressing rooms to encourage tenants to commute by bicycle. There are internal well-being and prayer rooms, an external exercise area, herb garden and terrace
